Oh, Magonia, you strange, strange book, it’s going to take me months to decipher you. Magonia by Maria Dahvana Headley has so many things going for it, I’m not even sure where to begin. It’s a book that simply refuses to be compared or classified; even determining its genre is proving to be impossible/5.

A high-flying, refreshing, and literally out-of-the-blue fantasy with great characters, emotional depth, and a unique fantasy world that I never saw coming.” (Victoria Aveyard, #1 New York Times Bestselling author of Red Queen) 4/4().

A number of times recently Magonia has looked at books examining utopian ideas and communities. When I have reviewed any I have been influenced by Peter Rogerson's last article for Magonia, where he spoke of the 'dangers of purity', the manner in which the search for a pure ideal, has destroyed the humanism of those involved in it.

Do you think Magonia needs a follow-up book. Why or why not. Yes and no. Yes because the world was so underdeveloped. She spent more time on the character development and the visual -- which was great -- but that doesn't help me connect to the world at a deeper level like I would have preferred, especially one so different as Magonia.
